4 drug peddlers arrested in separate incidents in Kashmir | Contraband substances recovered

Srinagar, Apr 16: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested four drug peddlers across Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Kreeri headed by SHO PS Kreeri at a checkpoint established at Guage Crossing Kreeri, intercepted one person identified as Ishtiyaq Ahmad Wani @Jana, resident of Waripora Bala. During the search, 50 grams of contraband charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Kreeri where he remains in custody.

   

In Sopore, a police party of Police Post Bus Stand headed by IC PP Bus Stand under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir and SHO PS Sopore, at a checkpoint established at Iqbal Market Sopore, apprehended two persons. On their search, contraband substances including 110 grams of charas like substance, 242 tablets/capsules of banned drugs and cash 35,000 was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Jahangir Ahmad Shah, resident of Neharpora Sopore and Owais Ahmad Shah, resident of Neharpora Sopore A/P Batsuma Dangiwacha Rafiabad.

Meanwhile, in Kulgam, a police party of Police Station Manzgam during patrolling near ITI KB Pora, intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During the search, 4.446 Kgs of Ganja like contraband substance concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from his procession. He has been identified as Mohd Abass Shah son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Shah resident of KB Pora.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
