Srinagar, Nov 9: The first 42-kilometere Srinagar Marathon organised by J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) would be held on Saturday.
In the event selected 15 top athletes of State would participate. It is for the first time that full marathon involving 42-kilometres would be held in Valley.
The route of the event involves both old city and civil lines. The event will be flagged off near Jamia Masjid Nowhatta and will pass through Gojwara, Rajouri Kadal, Bohrikadal, Police Station Khanyar, Nowhatta, Rainawari, Sheeraz Chowk, Babademb, Polo Ground, MA Road, Fly Over, back to MA Road, Dalgate, Nehru Park, Oberio Crossing, Nishat, Foreshore Road and will culminate at Kashmir Harvard School Malabagh.
The event is expected to be flagged off by JK Bank Executive President and Chairman Sports Board Taffazul Hussain while JK Bank Executive President Parvez Ahmad, President TAAK Rouf Tramboo, MD TCI Umer Tramboo, former general secretary JKFA Bashir Malik are also expected to grace the occasion.
"It is an irony that a full 42-kilometre marathon was never held in Srinagar and we are taking an initiative by organizing the first 42-kilomtre Srinagar marathon on Saturday," said JKSDA President and International footballer, Mehrajuddin Wadoo.
