Despite losing final game of their I-League second division campaign to Chanmari FC, Kashmir FC impressed everyone by finishing as runners-up in the coveted tournament.
The Kashmir based club owned by Lone Star Group went down to Chanmari FC one goals to nil at PTI Stadium in Assam.
The team had a monumental campaign which saw them leapfrog teams such as Chanmari, Mohammadan Sporting and United Sports in the league table and on their way they beat the league leaders Aizawl emphatically.
Ajay Singh from Kashmir FC finished as the top scorer of the league. Kashmir FC were able to culminate an impressive haul of 28 points from their respective matches finishing 6 points short of title winners Aizawl who finished with 34 points.
At the post match press conference Coach Hilal was quoted as saying: "It has been an inspiring campaign and no one had expected us to finish as runners up. The boys gave their best throughout the tournament and have made all the fans back home proud".
It is a combined effort of all the people the team the players,"the management who have put in an effort to make this club stand up and be recognized in all circles of the country, he said.
Talking to media KFC General Secretary Majid Yousuf Dar said: "This campaign has brought J&K football into limelight and it shows that we have the potential to achieve greatness and success in the coming times. What we have done is brought the hope that the past glory our state had in football is about to reignite and Kashmir FC is the spark that will light it. We will not look backwards now we have set our goals for the future and it is just a matter of time before you see us in the I-league".
