Government Higher Secondary Aishmuqam lifted the Ahmad and Haris Charitable Trust T-20 cricket under-19 tournament by defeating Government High School, Seer.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, Government Higher School, Seer managed only 111 from their allotted 20 overs. Chasing the target, Higher Secondary Aishmuqam, comfortably chased the target in only 15 overs with only five wickets down and emerging as the winner of the trophy. Sualeh Pandit of Hr Secondary Aishmuqam was declared Man of the match while Aqib Mir of Higher Secondary Seer, was declared as man of the tournament for his brilliant all round performance.
Eight school teams each participated in the U-19 tournaments played at Cricket Stadium Seer Jageer.
Chairman Chenab Valley Development Corporation (CVC) and former JK Bank Chairman , M Y Khan along with his wife Mehbooba Khan distributed prizes among the players and provided the trophy to the winners and runner up.
Speaking on the occasion, Khan – who is also the chairman of the Trust said, " Our trust is doing its best to promote sports activities in Seer and help in nurturing the talent".
He said that the trust has been frequently providing free sports kits have been already provided to the talented cricketers of the area and also the issue regarding the up gradation of the stadium was taken up with the authorities.
"We are also arranging coaching and other facilities for our young budding cricketers to groom their talent," said Khan.
"Seer is my birth place and I want to do whatever I can for the people of this area and it is this urge which inspired me to set up this charity trust. I have dedicated this trust to my late father whom I owe a lot and as such it is housed in our ancestral house here in Seer".
