Minnows Tripura handed fourth consecutive defeat to J&K in the ongoing Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, on Wednesday.

This season's winless streak of JK cricket continued as the team suffered four wicket defeat in the ongoing event. The best chance of earning an elusive win during their worst season in decades was lost as JK batting lineup failed again. Batting first, JK were bundled out for 119 runs in 19.1 overs. In reply, Tripura achieved the required target in 18.2 overs for the loss of six wickets.

J&K skipper won the toss and elected to bat first. Unlike previous three matches, JK this time relatively got a stable start with opening pair putting up partnership of 26 runs. JK lost first wicket in shape of Shubam Khajuria at the score of 26 runs in third over. Khujria scored 15 from eight deliveries. The second wicket pair of Ian Dev and Bandeep Singh took JK score to 45 runs in 6.5 overs. Ian Dev was second wicket to fall after having scored 18 runs. The situation at that time was set for JK to put big total on the board. The run-rate and eight wickets in hand meant that JK are in a position to put up a big score. However, like the case has been, JK batting crumbled like pack of cards with whole team being bundled out for 119 runs. For JK, Bandeep top scored with 33 while as Mithun scored 21, Ian Dev 18 and Shubham 15. For Tripura, S Majumdar picked three wickets while as CK Paul took two wickets.

In reply Tripura overhauled  the target in 18.2 overs for the loss of six wickets. S  M Singha played a cautious inning of 43 runs to lead Tripura to a comfortable win. Mura Singh with unbeaten 23 and Majumdar with unbeaten 12 carried Tripura home.

Though, Omar Aalam gave double breakthrough early in the inning to, JK and Parvez Rasool tried his best to contain Tripura, total was never going to be a serious challenge. Parvez Rasool took three wickets in his four over quota giving away only 25 runs while as Omar took two wickets. Syed Saghar chipped in with one wicket.

JK side are yet to register a single win in entire season.  It was first win for Tripura in the event and they have now jumped one place above JK in points table who are sitting at the bottom in Group-B. Kerala are at the top of the group with 16 points after having won all its matches. In the group all the teams except, JK have now opened their account in win column and it is JK whose column reads zero.

The match against Tripura was golden chance for JK to earn the elusive win but they lost the opportunity. JK will now take on Jharkhand on Thursday in its fifth match.
