The young batting sensation of J&K, Qamran Iqbal, hasshined once again as he lead Under-19 India-A to a crushing win over Under-19South Africa in the first match of the Quadrangular U19 One Day Series atGreenfield Stadium, Trivandrum on Tuesday.
Qamran Iqbal bagged man of the match for his brilliant knockof 60 runs as India-A beat South Africa by 157 runs.
Batting first India-A scored 251 runs for the loss of all wickets in 50-overs. For India-A, opener Qamran Iqbal gave them brilliant start in bowling friendly conditions. He alongwith YB Jaiswal formed 59 run stand for the opening wicket. He then went in to make another solid stand with incoming batsman Arjun Azad. India lost second wicket on the score of 102 runs.
Qamran was third wicket to fall on the score of 113 runs. He scored 60 runs from 65 deliveries in which he hit three boundaries and four sixes. India-A got all out for 251 runs with Shashwat Rawat top scoring with 64 from 55 balls. For South Africa Marco Jensen took four wickets.
In reply, South Africa got all out for 94 runs. Marco Jansenwith 33 was highest scorer for them while as RM Bishnoi and Harsh Dubey tookthree wickets each for India-A. For his mature inning upfront Qamran Iqbal wasadjudged as man of the match.
From last year Qamran who was J&K Under-19 team skipperhas taken giant steps by being selected for India Under-19 and then went on togive performances that have caught eyes of everyone. On the basis of hisperformances at junior level for State and then for India Under-19 he wasselected for the J&K Ranji trophy team. He did reasonably well for theJ&K and looks a great prospect for the future. India U19-A will next faceAfghanistan U19 on March 7.
