The indigenous motor sport expedition of Kashmir -4×4 Adventure Expedition Kashmir -will be flagged off from here on Saturday.

The event is being held on the non-traditional routes with a view to explore not so popular tourist destinations like Dodapathri and Yousmarg.

Kashmir Expeditions and Events head Tofail Khan, winner of Raid de Himalaya in the 1300 cc category Sanjay Razdan and fastest female rally driver in India Bani Yadav held a presser in which they enumnerated the plan of action for the rally.

"The event is being held to promote Kashmir as an all weather all sport destination and this event would  not have been possible without the response and support of JK Tourism and the civil administration of the State, " said Tofail.

Sanjay will be giving the technical guidance to the participants.

"The event will be a 4-day fun-packed event, starting from December 23 and will cover some of the mesmerizing and tricky trails and the final Autocross Race at Gulmarg (lap time based race), wherein participants shall compete against time, track and obstacles, for the cash prizes, champions trophy and exciting gift hampers," Razdan said.

"I have been part of Raid de Himalaya and various other motor sports events in other parts of World.  I hereby say it with firm belief that Kashmir has got unparallel terrains for the motor sport enthusiasts that need to be explored and promoted fully," he said.

Bani Yadav who is considered fastest female rally driver in India said: "Raid-de-Himalaya used to pass through Kashmir and never explored Kashmir in its full. This is great initiative to give Kashmir its own motorsport event and that too on its own terrains. I am happy that organizers have kept routs on nontraditional areas like Ddopathri, Yousmarg as mostly people know only areas like Pahalgam, Gulmarg or Sonmarg. These types of events will highlight these areas as well".

The event carries prize money of Rs 60,000 for winner while runner and second runner up will get Rs 40,000 and 20,000 respectively. Apart from that first three position holders will also be given trophies and there will also be prize for best female driver.

The event is organised by Kashmir Expeditions and Events with support from JK Tourism, Kashmir Chamber of commerce and Industries, J&K Bank, J&K Traffic Police and Gulmarg Development Authority, and sponsored by TCI Max, Saifco Cements, Fat Panda, Rockwool, Hotel Comrade Inn, Hotel Alpine Ridge, Shuhul Mahindra, Peaks Auto, Greater Kashmir, Spectrum Advertising and 92.7 Big FM.
