Sports minister and head of one faction of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association Imran Ansari on Sunday said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given its nod to the team selected by his faction.
"We got the BCCI legitimacy," Imran said, adding that an under-19 women cricket team sent by his group for trials will be playing first match in Pune on Tuesday.
General Secretary JKCA Iqbal Shah, meanwhile, said that team sent by JKCA faction led by Farooq Abdullah was rejected by BCCI. "Only our team was recognized as legitimate team sent by JKCA," he said.
The BCCI nod brings relief to the players who were being pulled in different directions by rival factions, who have been conducting parallel selection trials and preparatory camps over the past month.
