Commonwealth Judo Championship 2018

Jammu and Kashmir Judo Association and judokas of Kashmir valley congratulated Shafkat Shafi and Rahil Shafi for their participation in Commonwealth Judo Championships which is going to be held at Jaipur Rajasthan from 4th Nov to 11th Nov 2018.

Despite cancellation of flights from Srinagar airport due to bad weather, both the players managed to fly for the competition on Saturday.

   

In this regard, the statement issued by the Association said, “It is really a pride moment for Kashmir valley and the state of Jammu and Kashmir that the duo is participating in an international championship. It is for the first time that any judokas from the valley are participating and representing India in the Commonwealth championship. On behalf of Judo family of Kashmir Valley and Jammu and Kashmir Judo Association, the Association wishes the duo best of luck and hopes that they bring laurels to the Country in this Commonwealth Judo Championship.”

Pertinently, Judo an old martial art,  is practiced in Kashmir since 1980’s when the first School National competition in Judo was held at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar in 1982.
