Covid-19 Surge | JKFA suspends football activities

Amid surge in COVID-19 cases across the Union Territory, the J&K Football Association (JKFA) has decided to suspend all its football activities till the “situation improves”.

In a statement, the JKFA said it will be suspending all football related activities in J&K due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.

   

“JKFA has decided to suspend all football related activities in the UT keeping in view the surge in COVID-19 cases across the country. All the programmes of the JKFA stand postponed till the situation improves,” the statement reads. “All the football clubs, teams of the UT are requested to strictly adhere to the SOPs issued by the government for COVID-19 pandemic.”

Meanwhile, Real Kashmir FC has also decided to shut all its activities.

“We have decided to suspend all our training activities for all age groups due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. From Thursday, the club will hold no activity till the situation improves,” a Real Kashmir FC official said.

Another prominent club of J&K, Lone Star Kashmir FC had shut all its activities two days ago.

“As conditions have deteriorated due to spike in COVID-19 in J&K, we have decided to stop all our activities including training till further notice,” Lone Star said in a statement.
