CRPF football cup ends, Mehbooba hails youth
The CRPF football cup -2016 concluded at Bakshi stadium here on Wednesday, a spokesman of the paramilitary force said in a statement.
He said nine teams of girls and thirty teams of boys from various schools, colleges and clubs participated in the event.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, was the chief guest on the occasion.
In his welcome address, the DIG of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) K K Sharma gave the brief about the tournament which started on December 3.
The finals of the boys and the girls were played today in which IFC Nowgam defeated JJ soccer by 2-0 to lift the boys' winners' trophy along with a cheque of Rs 30,000 and in the girls group, Women College M A Road defeated Mallinson girls high school(senior) by 2-1 to lift the winners' trophy along with a prize money of Rs 20,000/.
The boys and the girls runners up teams were presented cheques of RS 20,000/ and Rs 15000/ respectively with trophies.
The Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti while presenting the winners and the runners up trophies along with the cheques expressed her happiness about the enthusiasm the youth showed for the game despite Kashmir witnessing difficult time during the past few months.
Atul Karwal, IG CRPF presented medals, certificates, sports kits to the participants and momentos to the distinguish guests/ officials.
In her vote of thanks, Madhubala Commandant 75 battalion CRPF, highlighted the support and cooperation extended by the sports council and the football association for successful completion of the tournament and the media teams for coverage of the event.
