Srinagar, Feb 28: Students of DPS Budgam presented a stellar show at the 8th National Snowshoe Championship 2024 organised at Sonamarg.
A statement said that Tamana Bilal of 9th F bagged the Silver Medal in the 400-metre sprint while Hareem Zaffar of 9F won the best sportsman award. It is worth mentioning that both Tamanna and Hareem won bronze medals in the state-level championship held last year.
The Snowshoe Championship was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal marking the beginning of this major winter sports event in the tourist hotspot.
The Championship opened amidst much fanfare in the presence of officials from the district administration and representatives from winter sports associations across India. Around 150 athletes from 13 States of different parts of the country participated in the event.
The school authorities of DPS Budgam congratulated the students and the sports department for their remarkable performance.
