The Inter-Group cricket tournament conducted by Department of Physical Education Islamia College was inaugurated at Islamia College, Hawal here on Monday.
The tournament was inaugurated by senior member of collegesports committee Prof Nasreen Qureshi. She interacted with players of both theteams of opening match – ICS Reds andICS Yellows.
Yellows team won the toss and opted to bowl first. Batting first ICS Reds scored 218 runs in allotted 25 overs for the loss of five wickets. Aijaz with 66 and Haris with 53 were highest scorers for them while as Junaid took three wickets. In reply Yellows team scored the required runs in 23.5 overs for the loss of nine wickets.
Tanvir with 47 and Junaid with 44 were the highest scorers for them while as Owais took three and Kamran two wickets for Reds team. Captain of ICS Yellows Junaid was adjudged the man of the match for his all-round performance.
On Tuesday, ICS Greens will face ICS Oranges in the secondmatch of the tournament.
