Srinagar: J&K Bank FC beat Kashmir Avengers FC to retain Premier Division Football League title.

After the league phase that involved 16 teams divided into two groups, the two sides J&K Bank FC and Kashmir Avengers FC made it to the final. While J&K Bank was defending the title, Kashmir Avengers FC , the newly formed professional club was playing in the title deciding contest of top football league in Kashmir for the first time.

Contrary to expectations that J&K Bank FC will dominate the game, it was Kashmir Avengers FC that dominated the early phases and almost snatched the title from Bank.

It was in the 8th minute of the game that the Kashmir Avengers were able to score the first goal of the match. Kelvin was the scorer. It was a total surprise for everyone and disbelief for Bank side to see themselves trailing by one goal in early moments of the match. Despite Bank sides efforts they were unable to score an equaliser in the first half.

The first half was mostly dominated by Kashmir Avengers FC. At the end of the first half the score was 1-0 in favour of Avengers.

In the second half, the experienced Bank side bounced back strongly. It was again their star striker Aakif Reshi who shined at the biggest stage for the team. He first equalised the score in the 50th minute through a header and then scored the winner in the 60th minute. Kashmir Avengers tried their best to score an equaliser, missing the chances they got.

The match ended with 2-1 scoreline in favour of J&K Bank FC. With that J&K Bank emerged as champion, retaining the Premier Division title which they have claimed multiple times.

Sports Officer Kashmir, Nuzhat Ara was chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes and mementoes among players and officials.

The tournament was organized by DFA Srinagar in collaboration with JKSC.
