J&K beat Bihar by 144 runs

Srinagar, Nov 26: Youngster Arya Thakur starred with the bat as J&K beat Bihar by 144 run margin in the match of the Men’s U25 State A Trophy at Gymkhana Ground, Hyderabad on Friday.

J&K on the back of a fiery ton scored by Arya Thakur went on to post a huge total of 370 runs for the loss of eight wickets in allotted 50 overs. In reply, Bihar were able to score only 226 for the loss of six wickets in allotted overs. They fell short of a target by 144 runs.

   

Earlier Bihar won the toss and invited J&K to bat first. The decision turned out wrong as J&K openers Arya Thakur and DikshantKundal smashed Bihar bowlers all over the park. While both played brilliantly, Arya in particular was in a punishing mood. The opening stand for J&K was 141 in 15.1 overs. Arya was the first wicket to fall in the J&K inning. Before getting out he had smashed a fiery ton of 104 runs from mere 59 balls. After that J&K kept the momentum going and posted 370 runs on board for the loss of eight wickets.

Kundal scored 65 from 69 while KanhaiyaWadhawan scored 63 from 61. SahilLotra scored 37 from 43. However, it was lower down the order , fireworks from wicketkeeper batsman Fazil Rashid who pushed J&K total to 370 run mark. Fazil scored 55 runs from mere 24 balls. For Bihar, SurajRathore took three wickets.

In reply Bihar was able to score only 226 runs for the loss of six wickets in allotted 50 overs. GupilRai scored unbeaten 76 runs for them while Akash scored 31. For J&K, Saksham took three wickets while Nasir Lone two. J&K won the match by 144 run margin.
