J&K knocked out of Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament
Srinagar: J&K senior cricket team was knocked out of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament after suffering defeat in its last group match against Jharkhand at Reliance Cricket Stadium, Vadodara on Tuesday.
In the match, Jharkhand defeated J&K by five wickets. Though J&K had already lost the chance to qualify for next round , their hopes of finishing their campaign on a winning note were dashed by Jharkhand.
J&K finished its campaign in the tournament with only one win out of five matches played. They finished at the bottom of the points table.
Earlier, batting first J&K scored 156 runs for the loss of six wickets in allotted 20 overs. They had a solid opening stand with openers Qamran Iqbal and Jatin Wadhawan putting up a 67 run stand for the first wicket.
For J&K Jatin top scored with 45 from 41 balls while Qamran Iqbal scored 37 from 30. Skipper Shubham Pundir remained unbeaten on 26 from 12 deliveries. For Jharkhand, U Singh took two wickets while Shahbaz Nadeem, Bal Krishna and KR Singh took one wicket each.
In reply Jharkhand achieved the target in 19.2 overs for the loss of five wickets. Virat Singh with 40, IR Jaggi with 30 and KR Singh with 29 were top scorers for them. For J&K, Ram Dayal took two wickets while Parvez Rasool, Auqib Nabi and Abid Mushtaq took one each.
Jharkhand bagged four points from the match and finished at third place on points table. J&K with only one win in the bag finished at bottom place on points table.
