Srinagar: J&K senior cricket team bounced back from two defeats to beat table-toppers Haryana by seven wickets in the match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) T20 tournament at Alembic 2 Cricket Ground, Vadodara on Saturday.
After bundling out Haryana for 108 runs total, J&K achieved the target for the loss of three wickets.
Earlier, J&K won the toss and opted to field first. Haryana batting first lost their first wicket in fourth over on the score of 19. Pacer Auquib Nabi accumulated for CK Bishnoi. In the fifth over Mujtaba Yousuf gave J&K a second breakthrough with a Haryana score of 33. Haryana lost the third wicket on the score of 45 with Parvez Rasool getting rid of SR Chauhan.
After that HJ Rana and RP Sharma steadied the Haryana innings taking the score to 82 in 12.3 overs without any further loss. At that moment rising star cricketer from Jammu, Umran Malik inflicted a collapse in the Haryana innings. He bagged two wickets in two balls to leave Haryana on 82 for the loss of five wickets at the end of 13 overs.
After that Haryana kept losing wickets at regular intervals with the whole team bundling out for 108 runs total in 19 overs. They failed to utilise the full 20 over quota. ForJ&K, pacer Umran Malik picked a four-wicket haul while Parvez Rasool took three. Mujtaba Yousuf took two wickets while as Auquib Nabi one.
For Haryana, RP Sharma top-scored with 29 while as HJ Rana scored 28. HV Patel scored 20.
In reply, J&K got an excellent start thanks to some quick runs scored by opener Vivrant Sharma. J&K had an opening stand of 36 runs in 3.5 overs thanks to Sharma's 13 balls 24 run knock. While Ian Chauhan stood at one end, the next in batsman Henan Malik got out cheaply scoring only two runs.
After that J&K lost the third wicket in the form of Ian Chauhan with a score of 51 in 7.4 overs. He scored 18 from 20. After that skipper Shubham Pundir joined by the former skipper and star cricketer Parvez Rasool made sure that J&K achieved the target without any further loss of the wicket.
J&K overhauled the target in 17 overs for the loss of three wickets.
J&K bagged four points from the match and opened its tally on the points table. They now stand in fourth place with four points from three matches.
J&K is now scheduled to play its fourth match against Himachal Pradesh on November 8.
