J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari on Tuesday issued the engagement notice for the appointment of selectors for the various JKCA teams.
The engagement notice for selectors has been issued for senior men, women, Under-23, 19, 16, 14 boys and Under-19, 16 girls sections.
Unlike previous precedence, this time JKCA CEO has invited open applications from the eligible former cricketers of the state to be engaged as selectors for the all the teams that JKCA would field in national level events. The eligibility criteria for senior and junior level selectors is that they should have played minimum 25 first class matches’ or International matches. For senior and junior women selectors must have played senior women national or any other national league or Inter University cricket tournaments.
Apart from that cricketers who intend to work as selectors should not be associated with JKCA as working committee or general council member. The applicant should also not be above 70 years of age. Cricketers have been asked to apply within 15 days.
According to JKCA official the notice has been issued in order to make process transparent and to give all the cricketers who have served State a chance to work for the development of the cricket.
“It is for the first time that engagement of selectors for various teams of JKCA would made in a transparent manner in which any eligible cricketer can apply to be a selector. Previously JKCA factions used to appoint their own persons as selectors depending on club loyalties,” said a JKCA source.
“This notice has covered the Supreme Court guidelines as well. Only those cricketers will now apply for the engagement that fall within the guidelines. Also as the process is open anyone can apply and JKCA can prepare teams for next season well in advance,” he added.
