JUNIOR WORLD WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIP: 2 Kashmir players leave for Brazil

Two Kashmir Wushu martial art players on Sunday left for Brazil to take part in the 7th Junior World Wushu Championship scheduled to be held in Brasilia (Brazil) from July 9 to 16.

Naveed Farooq and Mohammad Saleem Kumar were selected during the selection trial held at SAI Bhopal on May 15 for the championship. Both the players attended the National Wushu coaching camp at SAI Bhopal from May 15th to July 8 and also attended the foreign exposure training for 15 days at Shangdong (China) from June 10 to 25.

   

Naveed Farooq who hails from Srinagar district had bagged silver medal in the 16th Junior National Wushu championship held at Haryana while as Mohammad Saleem Kumar who hails from Budgam district had bagged gold medal in the 56kg In 17th Sub-Junior National Wushu championship held at Jammu (J&K). It was the basis of these performances that both the players were called for the final selection trial held at SAI Bhopal.

The Indian Wushu team comprising of 27 members left on Sunday for the 7th Junior World Wushu championship at Brasil. The team was flagged off by the Chief Coach of India Kuldeep Handoo along with the other coaches and supporting staff at SAI Bhopal.
