Srinagar: J&K suffered second defeat in the ongoing Men’s U25 State A Trophy cricket tournament at the hands of Bengal at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Thursday.
Chasing a target of 306 runs set by Bengal, J&K fell short of a target by 39 runs as they got all out for 268 run total.
Earlier , batting first Bengal posted a total of 306 runs for the loss of six wickets on board in allotted 50 overs. Both the Bengal openers scored centuries. Sudip Kumar scored 111 run knock while Ankur Paul scored 110. The number three batsman KaiziJunaid scored 52 run knocks for them.
For J&K, Rasikh Salam and Saksham Sharma took two wickets each while SahilLotra took one wicket.
In reply, J&K were bowled out for 268 runs in 48.3 overs. Henan Nazir with 79 and Lone Nasir with 69 runs were the highest scorers for them. KanhaiyaWadhawan scored 27. For Bengal, AkashGhatak and SurajSindhu took three wickets each.
With this defeat J&K has now won only two matches out of four matches played in the tournament. They now stand at fourth place on the points table with eight points. Bengal is unbeaten at the top with 16 points.
