Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, Secretary J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC), flagged off State teams of dragon boat and Canoe Polo for the national championship from TRC here on Monday.
The contingent of 22 boys and girls will be participating State in the 5th National Dragon Boat championship at Udaipur, Rajasthan from November 18 to 20. The teams would be taking part under the banner of J&K State sports council.
Adil Mohi ud din Wani, an international player who is also participating in the championship said, "J&K Government is taking keen interest in water sports." He further added that Government provided us with International standard equipments in Canaoe Sprint and also with good coaches.
While flagging of the contingent, Para congratulated the participants for taking part in the championship and wished them luck. He also appreciated the role played by concerned sportspersons in the development of water sports. He assured them all possible support for the development and promotion of water sports in the state.
Meanwhile, International reputed coach Bilqees Mir appreciated the support from Chief Minister, who is also the President of the JKSSC, Imran Reza Ansari, Vice-President of the Council and Secretary Sports Council for providing them full support and latest international equipments.
