Parvez shines in Bangladesh, scores 53 for GGC

Star all-rounder Parvez Rasool started his journey in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League with match winning unbeaten 53 for Gazi Group Cricketers against Mohammedan SC at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothisthan Ground-3, Savar, Dhaka on Thursday.

In his first match in the league, Parvez scored unbeaten 53 and formed match winning 144 run partnership with Nasir Hussain that helped Gazi Group Cricketers to beat Mohammedan SC by seven wickets.

Batting first Mohammedan SC scored 220 runs for the loss of eight wickets in allotted 50 overs. In reply Gazi Group achieved required target in 37 overs for the loss of three wickets. Nasir Hussain remained unbeaten on 106 runs while as Parvez remained not out on 53.

Terming his performance in the opening match as satisfactory Parvez said, "It went better than what I had expected. Though in bowling I should have bagged atleast two wickets if not for the dropped catch and missed stumping chance but I did well in death overs".

"While chasing the target, I formed a solid partnership with Nasir Hussain who plays for Bangladesh's national team. I am happy to contribute for the win in my first match for the team," he said.

About the team and the conditions, he said, "The team is well balanced and has got some big names of Bangladesh cricket in it. The conditions are favourable for my type of bowling and batting. I am confident that I will do well in the league".

Parvez was given chance to bat at his normal position and he did well by scoring unbeaten 53 that included five boundaries and one six. In Indian Premier League (IPL) and while playing for India, Parvez was never given chance to bat up the order.
