Ranji Trophy – Day 1
J&K bundled for mere 162 runs in the first inning on the first day of the Group-C Ranji trophy tournament match against Himachal Pradesh at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi on Saturday. In reply at the end of days play, Himchal had scored 58 for the loss of two wickets.
J&K elected to bat after winning toss. International cricketer Parvez Rasool is leading the side in the match despite Mithun Manhas's presence in playing-XI. It is learnt from team sources that Manhas relinquished captaincy just before the game. It is also been said that he may opt out of playing-XI in the reminder of the series and will only do duty of coach.
Batting first, J&K started badly with new opener Umair Nisar getting for two runs. Then Shubham Khajuria was hit by ball while trying to negotiate bouncer and had to retired hurt. The next in batsman ian Dev got out after scoring 18 while Mithun Manhas hurt his back in the middle of the inning. He went back to dressing room with retired hurt. Meanwhile Parvez Rasool tried to rescue inning but couldn't do much as he got out for 26. Though Shubham Khajuria after coming back into the middle tried hard to rescue sinking ship , but whole side got out for 162. Khajuria made 48 while as Rohit Sharma remained not out on 2. For Himachal MJ dagar took four wickets while as PP Jaswal took three.
In reply Himachal where on 58 for the loss of two wickets when day play was called off. Himachal is trailing by 104 runs with eight wickets in hand. Rohit Sharma and Harmeet took one wicket each for J&K. For Himachal AR Kalsi was batting on 25 while as PK Dogra on 3.
