Ranji Trophy: J&K v/s Haryana

Riding on the brilliant 194 run knock scored by Rajat Paliwal, Haryana posted mammoth first inning total of 502 runs on the second day of the Group-C Ranji trophy match against J&K at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on Monday.

Resuming play on first inning score of 295 for the loss of five wickets, Haryana went on to score 502 all out. Paliwal who was unbeaten overnight on 99 first completed his century. He then carried the Haryana inning brilliantly with lower order batsman taking most of the strike himself. He fell just six runs short of a well deserved double ton.  His knock included 23 boundaries. In the lower order, S M Pahal scored 59 runs. Among others who contributed in Haryana's mammoth score were Nitin Sani (99) and RP Sharma (51).

For J&K, skipper Parvez Rasool took three wickets while as Amir Aziz and Samiullah took two wickets each. Rohit Sharma and Ram Dayal took one wicket each.

In reply, J&K were on 84 for the loss of one wicket. Umair Nisar was the only wicket to fall for J&K on naught. Shubham Khajuria was unbeaten on 48 while as Pranav Gupta was batting on 25. J&K still trail Haryana first inning total by 418 runs. It will be an uphill task for J&K batting lineup to overhaul the first inning total. Owing to J&K's recent batting performances Haryana has put themselves in strong position in match. The draw with first inning lead or an outright win looks like the likely outcome for Haryana in the match.

Haryana with 16 points from the five games is on the top of points table in Group-C while as J&K is one place above bottom on ninth place.
