The second phase of Let’s Play football tournament for district Srinagar sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Government of India, for students and non-students concluded at Gindun sports centre Rajbagh here on Wednesday.
The tournament was conducted by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Srinagar for both boys and girls in the age groups of Under-6-12, 13-16 and 17-19 under Khelo India scheme.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Joint Director DYSS Kashmir Bashir Ahmad, who was chief guest on the occasion said that over all 48 teams from eight Physical Education Zones of district Srinagar who were declared winners in Zone Level competitions participated in the tournament. Six teams, three each from boys and girls in identified age groups represented respective zones.
He said overall around 1000 players took part in the tournament in which 42 matches were played, seven in each age group and category.
