Srinagar ski championship kick starts at Gulmarg

The district Srinagar ski championship organized by Distract Winter Games Association Srinagar started at Gulmarg on Wednesday.

The district Srinagar ski championship organized by Distract Winter Games Association Srinagar started at Gulmarg on Wednesday. 

In the event that is being held under the aegis of WGAJK around 40 skiers are taking part. On the inaugural day competitions of giant slalom in senior, Junior II, Junior I, and Children II categories were held.

The championship was inaugurated by General Manager Cable Car Corporation Malik Reyaz, and Assistant Director Youth Services and Sports Shabir Ahmad Wani.

In senior men, Tahir Shafi, Yasir Rather and Reyaz Ahmad bagged first three places while as in Junior I boys, Raja Nihaal, Younis Muhammad Dar and Muhammad Shahdab bagged first three positions.

In boys category, Syed Sajid Raza, Mubashir and Mustafa bagged three positions while as in children girls, Asfa Qureshi, Muskan Lateef and Shemail bagged first places.

On Thursday competitions of Slalom would be held. The promising skier Arif Khan was acting as course setter, association statement said.
