Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh on Wednesday said that Government is taking steps to upgrade sports infrastructure in the State and several initiatives have already been taken in this regard.
He said special focus is being given to upgrade the existing sports infrastructure so that our youth can channelize their energy in positive direction.
Dr Nirmal Singh said this during the prize distribution ceremony of B-Division football tournament organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, Jammu district at Mini Stadium Parade ground. MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta was also present on the occasion, the official handout said.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Singh said that there is ample talent in our youth which needs to be explored and nurtured in the right direction .He further said that every effort is being taken for development and promotion of Sports activities and providing suitable platform for the youth of State to exhibit their talent.
Deputy Chief Minister asked the youth to stay away from drug addiction and other social vices. Earlier final was played between J&K Bank Academy and Shaheen Football Club. Deputy Chief Minister also distributed prizes among the winning and runners up teams. J&K Bank Academy won the tournament by 3-0.
