Srinagar: J&K senior cricket team suffered defeat against Andhra Pradesh in their first match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament at Alembic 2 Cricket Ground, Vadodara on Thursday.

In the match Andhra Pradesh defeated J&K by 36 runs to bag four points. Earlier batting first, Andhra Pradesh piled up a huge total of 198 runs on board in allotted 20 overs. They lost only one wicket. They had an opening stand of 140 runs between skipper KS Bharat and Ashwin Hebbar. The duo punished J&K bowlers who looked out of sorts.

Pacer Umran Malik who joined J&K directly in Vadodara after being part of India Team in UAE as net bowler was smashed all over by Andhra Pradesh batsmen.

KS Bharat was the only wicket to fall in the Andhra inning. He scored 70 runs from 49 balls. His wicket was claimed by Mujtaba Yousuf. Ashwin remained unbeaten on 73 from 49 balls while Ricky Bhui scored unbeaten 44 from 23 balls.

For J&K , Parvez Rasool bowled tidy giving away only 22 runs in his four over quota while Umran Malik was most expensive giving away 58 runs in his four overs.

In reply J&K could manage to score only 162 runs for the loss of eight wickets in allotted overs. J&K started with Qamran Iqbal and Vivrant Sharma with later becoming first wicket to fall, scoring eight runs. After that Qamran and Ian Chauhan steadied the ship.

However the pace of scoring was low and the asking rate kept going high. Ian Chauhan was the second wicket to fall after scoring 38 from 32 balls. Qamran Iqbal followed soon after scoring 47 runs from 42 balls.

Abdul Samad tried his best but got out scoring 15 runs from seven deliveries while Manzoor Dar got out after scoring eight runs from seven balls. Skipper Shubham Pundir got out on first ball duck while Yudhvir Singh scored 10 runs from four balls. Abid Mushtaq scored one run from two balls.

Former skipper Parvez Rasool remained unbeaten on 22 from 18 deliveries as J&K failed to chase the target.

For Andhra Pradesh, Stephen took three wickets while KV Sasikant took two. MH Reddy took one. J&K will next face Rajasthan on Friday.
