Visitors Vidharbha earned slim first inning lead of 27 runs against hosts J&K in the match of Under-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy match at Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College ground, Jammu on Monday.
Resuming their inning from overnight total of 47 with four wickets down, Vidharbha went on to score 228 runs in their first inning. J&K in their first inning had scored 201 runs. At the end of second day's play, J&K were 83 with three wickets down in second inning.
The day began with Vidharba resuming inning from 47 for the loss of four wickets in chase of J&K first inning total of 201. Opener SV Thubrikar and YV Rathod took score past 100-run mark. Vidharbha lost their fifth wicket in the shape of Rathod who scored 44 on the team score of 109.
At one end wickets kept falling at regular intervals while as at the other end, Thubrikar kept scoreboard ticking. He was the eighth wicket to fall in inning on the team score of 159 runs. At that point, J&K were ahead and hoped for early end to Vidharbha inning. But the lower order stand between last three batsmen from visitors meant they went on to achieve the slim first inning lead. DG Nalkande and AM Deshpande formed 41-run stand for ninth wicket and then Deshpande formed another 28-run stand with YR Thakur. Vidharbha got all out for 228 runs with Despande remaining unbeaten on 38. For J&K, Trag Jahid Nazir took four wickets while as Mohammad Tahir, Abid Mushtaq and Sunil Kumar took two wickets each.
In its second inning, J&K were 83 for the loss of three wickets. Suryansh Raina is batting on 43 runs while as Shubham Pundir on 15. For Vidharbha, DG Nalkande took two wickets while as YR Thakur took one wicket.
Earlier in its first inning J&K inning had folded for 201 run total. Sahil Lotra with 76-run knock top scored for them while as Shubham Pundir scored 46.
