After fielding its teams in different National and International ski and snowboarding championships the Winter Games Association of J&K (WGAJK) is going to conduct its domestic activities under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council at different resorts of the State.
The All South Kashmir Districts Ski and Snowboardingchampionship will be held on March 18 in collaboration with Jawahar Instituteof Mountaineering and WS. The athletes belonging to South Kashmir have beenasked to contact JIM, Pahalgam for further information.
The All North Kashmir Districts alpine ski, nordic ski andsnowboarding championship will be held at Gulmarg on March 21. The entry formsare available at Downhill Restaurant Tangmarg, Gulmarg Ski School Hotel PinePalace and Khan Motors, Exchange Road, Srinagar.
Competitions will be held in different age groups such asborn 1998,99,2000; 2001-02, 2003-04; 2005-06 and seniors borne before 1998.
For alpine ski and snowboarding there will be slalom and giant slalom events while for Nordic Ski there will be 10-kilometre for women, 15-kilometre for men, and 1.5 kilometer sprint. Every competitor shall have to bring their own ski equipment including skis, helmets and other protective gear.
The North Kashmir athletes will report at Ski Shop of Tourism Deptt at 9.30 am positively along with entry forms, PP size photograph, entry fee of Rs.150, date of birth certificates and advance course certificates. In the absence of these documents nobody will be allowed to take part.
The first six position winners in each event will beselected for State championship to be held on March 21. All these selectedathletes will be provided lodging and boarding by the association and allothers will have to go back to their respective homes.
