10-day workshop on Band Pather concludes

A 10 day workshop on traditional Band Pather (Darzi pather) concluded here today.

 The organisers in a statement said younger generation of Karam Buland Theatre Hanji Gund Chadoora Budgam, was trained during the workshop. On the concluding day the young artists presented the Darzi Pather at Tagore Hall with latest techniques in a modern way.

   

The budding artists of the theatre were given certificates by S.H. Qaiser and project director of the workshop Nisar Naseem.  Khalil Bhat renowned Qawwali singer was given lifetime achievement award by the president of the theatre.

Speaking on the concluding occasion Nisar Naseem project director said that the aim of the project was to train the younger generation of folk artists so that Band Pather will pull through and encourage generations to come. Darzi Pather has rich theme and visuals with contemporary relevance.

“Karam Buland Theatre has presented folk plays not only in the state but in the other parts of the country as well,” the organisers said. The workshop was inaugurated on 2nd March at Saqafat-e-Marqaz hall Budgam and concluded on 11th March with the presentation of Darzi Pather and Sufiyana Mosiqui by Manzoor Ahmed and Bashir Ahmed (kotru) and was highly appreciated by the audience, they said. Secretary of the theatre Feyaz Ahmed delivered welcome address.
