Srinagar, Oct 9: Social Welfare Committee Padshahi Bagh Wednesday refuted allegations that some mob attacked the house of a local, allegedly involved in "murder of neighborhood teenager".
Spokesperson of the committee in a statement said: "The residents are waiting for police to complete the investigation and make the facts public."
He said:"Family of accused is issuing open threats to common public in the locality to refrain from pressurizing police to expose the culprits."
"The accused family is trying to divert the attention of police and public from the main issue," he added.
Pertinently, the body of the Padshahi Bagh youth,  Zahid Iqbal, who had remained missing August 23, was fished out from Jhelum near LD Hospital on August 26.
Meanwhile a police handout Wednesday said mob last evening ransacked at a house in Mehjoor Nagar locality of south City.
"Srinagar police has taken cognizance of an incident of arson that took place at Padsahi Bagh. A case has been registered and investigation has been started… The mob set ablaze two motorcycles parked in the premises of house and also pelted stones on the house," the police handout said.
