Srinagar, Nov 9:  In a fresh spell of deadly attack on humans in Srinagar, the stray dogs have targeted around a dozen people in Nishat area, reports and witnesses Saturday said.
The residents said dogs are on rampage in the area biting anyone who comes their way adding that children were scared of moving out of their houses.
Around half a dozen wounded opted for treatment at the Anti Rabies Clinic SMHS Hospital where they were diagnosed of deadliest Category III bites, feared to cause incurable rabies.
One of the patients didn't have money to procure costly Immunogulobin something vital for treatment from market. The government doesn't provide it free of cost.Sources said finally some medicos pooled money to facilitate the drug procurement for the poor man.
Witnesses said one of the wounded brought for treatment had almost lost his nose to dog bites while his forehead was also mauled. Another man was also attacked in a similar way.
Medicos said even despite administering Anti-Rabies injections, there was a fear that the patients may die of rabies.
"When the bite wound is close to head, chances of cure are bleak," said a senior medico asking not to be identified.
People have been complaining that the ruling coalition is allegedly more concerned towards the welfare of dogs than humans.
