Inhabitants of various areas of Srinagar have complained of shortage of drinking water supply for past several weeks.
The problem is severe in areas including Badamwari Hawal, Zakura, Hazratbal, Naseem Bagh, Nawab Bazar and Saderbal which are supplied water from Ganderbal district. "For past several areas, we receive water for just an hour in morning. In absence of water, we face immense problems," said Abdul Hamid, a resident of Saderbal.
"Our area is facing acute shortage of drinking water. We had apprised the PHE authorities of the matter, however no action has been taken to restore the water supply," residents of Zakura said.
Chief Engineer PHE GM Bhat said the water supply to several city areas has been affected due to breach in Sindh canal in Ganderbal district.
"This has affected functioning of two water supply Schemes feeding water to Srinagar areas. Water to the affected areas will be restored by Sunday," the CE added.
