In the wake of complaints of overcharging by auto-drivers, authorities on Wednesday launched a drive against the three-wheelers plying without meters in Srinagar.

In the wake of complaints of overcharging by auto-drivers, authorities on Wednesday launched a drive against the three-wheelers plying without meters in Srinagar.  

Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir Mehmood Shah said 20 three-wheelers were seized during the drive today. 

"We had asked the auto-drivers operating in Srinagar to install meters within a week, however, they have failed. We have launched a drive to seize the three-wheelers which have failed to install the meters," the RTO said. 

The RTO said most of the auto-drivers don't have registration documents. "We have asked our officials, Traffic department and police to seize three wheelers which are operating without meters and documents," he said.    

"We have been receiving complaints of overcharging by auto-drivers. To check the problem, we will put name, photo and address of auto-drivers near the passengers' seat so that this can help in their identification is case of overcharging," the RTO said.
