Residents of Eidgah area in Shaher-e-Khaas have complained of defunct landline and broadband services of BSNL.
A delegation of locals said the entire telephone network starting with 241 series and the corresponding broadband services was not working in and around Eidgah since the last three weeks.
"We registered our complaints with BSNL several times and even visited their office, but till date the network is yet to be restored," said a local resident.
The residents claimed that the telephone works intermittently between 10-4pm and later stops permanently till the next day. "They told us that the local exchange has no electricity and that is why it only works in day time when employees are present there," said a resident. "If we pay for 24-hour service then why are we provided a piecemeal service? Even worst condition is of broadband, which has stopped altogether."
The resident said that in the absence of broadband internet service, their business as well as other work is suffering.
The BSNL officials acknowledged that the exchange has been affected by transformer problem. "There has been an issue with the locals and they have been preventing us from drawing power from the local transformer. But now we are installing a new transformer and hopefully the exchange and tower will get uninterrupted power within two to three days," said BSNL PRO Masood Bala.
