"A respectable citizen from Natipora lodged a complaint through e-mail to the official e-mail address of Legal Metrology Department against a local baker for keeping Kashmiri bread, Lawassa and chuchwaroo underweight. The department immediately deputed a team of officers to the spot under the supervision of Ghulam Nabi Legal Metrology Officer to ascertain the genuine of complaint. The erring baker was found indulging in short weighment and a fine of Rs 2000 was imposed on the baker for the lapse," a spokesperson of LMD said in a statement.
"Strict directions were given to the baker to ensure correct weights of Kashmiri breads as fixed by the Director CAPD .The present weights of chut, chuchwaroo and Lawassa of Rs 5 is 80 gram and of 3 is 48 gram. The consumers are advised to insist the bakers to offer for sale the Kashmiri breads of correct weights as fixed by authorities and in case of complaint contact the phone No 01942494053 during office hours or visit our office physically at SDA colony Bemina near Directorate of Economics and Statistics," the statement added.
