Forces on Sunday sealed all roads leading to city centre Lal Chowk to restrict vehicular movement.

Police and paramilitary CRPF did not allow any vehicle to cross the barricades on roads leading to Lal Chowk. However, pedestrians and media persons were allowed to cross these points.

In other areas of the civil lines including Rajbagh, Rambagh, Sonwar, Dalgate, Boulevard, Jawahar Nagar, movement of private cars was visible on roads.

However, forces had sealed Abdullah Bridge from Raj bagh side. They allowed the vehicles to cross the bridge in intervals.

At TRC, all entry points leading towards to Lal Chowk were sealed. Vehicles bound for Lal Chowk were diverted towards Sonwar.

Road leading to MA Road was sealed at Dalgate with concertina wires.  At the same time, the movement of vehicles remained visible on Boulevard road.

Road from Amira Kadal to Hari Singh High Street side and Budshah Bridge to Jahangir Chowk was also sealed. No vehicle was allowed towards Jehangir Chowk but the vehicles coming opposite direction were allowed to cross Budshah Bridge.

Some of the government employees, who were on way to attend offices in vehicles and two-wheelers, were also forced to return from Amira Kadal as it was sealed from both sides.  Commuters faced tough time due to strict restrictions.

"It is ironical that forces stop people have to purchase life saving drugs, visit patients in hospitals or to consult doctors," said a group of commuters.

"The entry and exit points of Lal Chowk are sealed. Only media persons are allowed to move on this route. However, other areas in civil lines are open and people can travel on these routes," a cop told a group of stranded commuters.
