Residents of Nowgam area on Saturday donated 50 points of blood for injured in forces action in Kashmir.
The locals donated the blood during a camp held by a Coordination Welfare Committee of Wanabal, Shankerpora, and Sheikh-ul-Aalam Colony in association with SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina.
The voluntary donors thronged the venue of the camp and registered their names for blood donation following announcements made by the organizers through Public Address System of local Masjids.
"This is the joint effort of people of Nowgam and its adjoining areas to contribute in the hour of grief and unrest," said Abdul Qayoom, a local.
He said they have requested SKIMS Bemina to hold a blood donation camp in their locality so that a maximum number of people can participate in it.
During the camp, 50 points of blood were donated by the locals.
However, many youths were disappointed as they could not donate blood and were asked to wait for next time.
"The medicos promised them that if there will be more need of blood, they will organize another camp in the area," said Gulzar Ahmad, a local.
