A group of 20 students of Jamia Millia Islamia University, who are on a 10-day visit to Kashmir, on Monday interacted with Lt Gen JS Sandhu, GOC, Chinar Corps.
In a statement, Army spokesperson said the students led by Prof Tasneem Meenai, Dean Students Welfare, are on a tour of Jammu and Kashmir to get an insight into the rich culture, traditions and values of Kashmiriyat.
"Interacting with the students, Lt Gen JS Sandhu emphasized that the youth in Kashmir yearn for peace and the endeavour of armed forces is to create an opportunity for their growth," the statement said.
"These students got opportunity of interacting with students through various Students Exchange Programmes at Jammu University on April 7 Kashmir University on April 10. This close exchange of thoughts, ideas and situational experiences included sharing of the career and growth prospects outside Kashmir, and also showcased the talent and potential of the Kashmiri youth," the statement said.
"The students termed the tour as a lifetime experience which enabled them in establishing a close bond with their Kashmiri brethren. The tour would go a long way in integrating the secular and cultural values of Kashmir with youth from other parts of the country," the statement added
