Commuters have expressed resentment over failure of authorities to make operational traffic lights at busy Badyari Chowk at Dalgate here.

A group of commuters said that though the authorities had last year installed the traffic lights at Badyari Chowk. "Ironically, the traffic lights are yet to be made operational. As a result, the junction witnesses massive traffic jams. This also hampers smooth vehicular movement as the vehicles have to take u-turn near Dalgate bus stand," they said.

They said the traffic policemen only allow two way traffic on the four-way junction "for their convenience."  "In absence of traffic lights, the vehicles bound from Lal Chowk and Sonwar to Boulevard have to cross junction at Kharashi Mohalla. This severely hits traffic from Downtown to civil line areas. Similarly, the vehicles bound from Boulevard to Downtown have to take U-turn near Dalgate bus stand," they said.

The commuters appealed the IGP Traffic to look into the matter and directed for restoring the traffic lights at the junction.
