The concluding ceremony of sixth Post Graduate Research Presentation was held today at Government Medical College Srinagar, bringing to end the two day event that saw the best medical researches awarded.

The concluding ceremony of sixth Post Graduate Research Presentation was held today at Government Medical College Srinagar, bringing to end the two day event that saw the best medical researches awarded.

On Thursday, the second day of the PGRP VI, 25 research presentations were made. The presentations included those of Department of Ophthalmology, Department of ENT and Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. At the end of the two day event that witnessed 70 research paper presentations from 15 departments, the best papers were awarded.

The top position was bagged by Department of Otolaryngology (ENT) whose research papers were appreciated for their sheer quality.

Other winners included Dr. Insha Latief (first prize), Dr Tabinda Shah (second prize), Dr. Jaspreet Singh (third prize) and Dr. Faheem Kanongo (third prize) from Department of Medicine. In Department of surgery Dr. Zubair Lone won the first prize, Dr. Faisal Younis Shah the second and Dr. Naveed Anjum and Waseem Qadir won the third prize. The winners of Basic and allied subjects were Dr. Junaid Ahanger (first) and Dr Samreen Siraj (first) and Dr. Fouzia Nazir (second), Dr. Masarat Nazir and Dr. Wajeeha Jeelani (third).

The judges for the research presentation were Prof Shariq Masoodi, Prof. Khursheed Iqbal, 3. Prof. Hardeep Singh, Prof. Aabidah, Prof. Nighat, Prof. Mumtaz-ud-din, Prof. Sabiha Majid, Prof. Anjum Fazili and Dr. Inam.

The organizers said that inners were adjudged as per the relevance and quality of the researches. The event was organized by the Academic Sub committee of GMC and Associated Hospitals under the patronage of Professor Kaiser Ahmad (Dean and Principal GMC) and Chairmanship of Prof. Parvez Ahmad Shah(HOD. Internal Medicine) . Prof. Mushtaq Siddique (Vice Chancellor, Islamic university of science and technology) was the honorable chief guest and Dr. Aashiq Hussain Naqashbandhi (Ex Principal and Dean GMC) was the guest of honour.
