After 28 years, compound wall of Raghunath temple reconstructed at Habba Kadal

On the request of members of majority community, authorities have restored compound wall of centuries old Raghunath temple at Karafali Mohalla area of Habba Kadal here after nearly 28 years. 

A group of members of majority community said the compound wall of the temple had collapsed in 1990. “In absence of repairs, its premises had become safe haven for stray dogs,” they said.  

   

The locals said they approached MLA Habba Kadal Shamim Firdous to undertake reconstruction of the compound wall. “I went to the spot and found the concern of people genuine. I got the compound wall reconstructed on priority. The temple is thronged by Kashmiri Pandits during their festivals. We will  soon repair the temple’s park  for convenience of the Kashmir Pandits,” Shamima said. Meanwhile, locals have urged the authorities to also undertake repairs of the temple.
