ALERT SOUNDED IN SRINAGAR: Vehicle without number plate crosses Humhama check point: police

An alert has been sounded across Kashmir especially in Srinagar after a vehicle without number plate ignored forces’ signal at Humhama and gained speed on Wednesday.

A police official told Greater Kashmir that during a suspicious private vehicle was asked to stop at a Naka point at Humhama in the morning. 

   

“The vehicle gained speed and ignored the signal for stopping, raising further doubts about it. So an alert has been issued across Kashmir, especially in Srinagar and Budgam districts. All police stations have been asked to keep a close watch on the vehicles without number plate,” said an official. “There is an apprehension that militants may use the vehicle to carry out a strike on the forces,” he said. 

In run up to 26 January, a high alert has been sounded across Kashmir to foil any possible militant strikes.
