Anti-tobacco awareness drive held

Deputy Controller Drugs and Food Control Organization Srinagar, today said a seven-day anti-tobacco drive was held in Kashmir division to implement various provisions of Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.

Deputy Controller Drugs and Food Control Organization Srinagar, today said a seven-day anti-tobacco drive was held in Kashmir division to implement various provisions of Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.

The Deputy Controller said around 1080 inspections were conducted by Food Safety Officers under the supervision of designated officers of the concerned districts.

During the inspection of hospitals, restaurants, parks, bus stands etc about 321 persons were fined for violating various sections of COTPA and Rs 24780 were realized from them.

It was said that the drive to implement the COTPA in letter and spirit will continue.
