Police today arrested a person, who attacked and injured an ice-cream vendor near Ghanta Ghar here.
“Yesterday, Police Station Maisuma received a distresscall that one ice cream vendor near Ghanta Ghar was attacked by an unknownassailant with a sharp edged weapon and is bleeding on the spot. Respondingswiftly, a Quick Response Team, from Police Station Maisuma reached the spotand shifted the injured person to the hospital. The injured was identified asAsif Ahmad Mir resident of Kupwara,” police said in a statement.
“Consequently, a case FIR No. 13/19 under relevantsections of law was registered and investigation was initiated in the matter.During the course of investigation, the accused was identified as Burhan AhmadWani of Maisuma at present Maloora HMT. He had fled away from the spot aftercommitting the crime,” it said.
“The accused was tracked by police and was taken intocustody. When the officers spoke to him about the incident, they learnt of hisinvolvement in the crime and subsequently a weapon of offence was alsorecovered. He has been charged for attempt to murder and remains incustody,” it added.
