Authorities at Srinagar municipal corporation have invited entries for designing a new logo for the civic body.
A notification issued here said, all citizens and professionals are eligible for the logo contest and only single entry from each contestant will be accepted.
However, it was not immediately known if the final logo selected by an expert jury would automatically become new final logo for civic body.
The existing SMC logo has a blue colured lotus inside a red circle and comes with the text “hygiene, health, happiness.”
Contestants have been asked to keep the size of the logo not less than 1.5″ X 1.5″ and the suggested image size not less than 300 dpi.
Contestants can send their entries online on jcadmin-smc@jk.gov.in, in JPEG or PDF formats.
For offline submission, a hard copy and soft copy of the logo design should be sent to the office of the SMC joint commissioner (Adm).
“Logo design should be unique and should reflect the sanitation and future aspirations of Srinagar. It (logo design) should be easily applicable for web, print etc,” the notification reads.
The design of the logo, as per terms and conditions of the contest, should not contain any material that is copyright protected. All the participants must clearly mention their names, contact details and all other necessary information along with their respective entries.
The best entry shall be declared as winner and will be paid Rs 50,000 as reward.
“The decision of Srinagar Municipal Corporation for the selection of the winner shall be considered as final. One person can submit only one entry. Srinagar Municipal Corporation reserves the right to select the prize winners and to use the logo as the official logo for Srinagar Municipal Corporation,” an official at SMC said, adding no plagiarism will be entertained and no intellectual property right protected material should be used.
Earlier, a notification was issued by chief executive officer (CEO) Smart City Srinagar, Syed Abid Rashid Shah, inviting entries from contests to submit a “logo design” for Srinagar Smart City project.
The Smart Cities Mission was launched in June 2015 by Government of India to improve basic urban infrastructure in the country.
While the new SMC logo needs to be “unique and should reflect the sanitation and future aspirations of Srinagar” the logo design for Smart City must “communicate the wider vision of the smart city; should be unique and should reflect the culture and the future aspirations of vibrant city of Srinagar.”
