Authorities today issued advisory to commuters, asking them adhere to 'no horn zones' order issued earlier by divisional administration.
The areas which have been declared as 'no horn zones' are GB Panth hospital at Sonwar to Radio Kashmir crossing, all hospitals and educational institutions coming within the limits of Srinagar municipal corporation and premises around High Court and Lower Court at Moominabad, Batamaloo.
The order to declare these places as 'no horn zones' was issued by divisional commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan in August last year.
"We have issued fresh advisory to refresh the law in minds of people. We are going to deal with violators under law in case we find them violating no horn zone rules," said SSP Traffic (Srinagar) Al Tahir Geelani.
He said that sign boards of 'no horn zones' have already been installed at important places while concerned authorities have been requested to install these boards at left-out places as well.
In a separate order, district magistrate Srinagar has directed petrol pumps operating in Srinagar not to give fuel to the two wheelers not wearing helmet.
The order states that large number of road traffic accidents have been reported involving two wheelers in Srinagar city. "In majority of these cases it has been observed that the two wheelers don't wear helmets."
Exercising the powers vested in him under the section 144 CrPc, district magistrate Srinagar Syed Abid Rashid Shah said "any petrol pump owners found violating these orders shall be liable for punishment under relevant provisions of law."
