Batamaloo residents decry delay in drainage construction

Residents of Firdous Abad, Batamaloo here Thursday appealed Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) commissioner to release required funds for construction of drainage system in locality.

The residents said that authorities had given green signal to the work for construction of drainage in the lane No 4. “The officials estimated Rs 4.51 lakh as a project cost in 2017. They had communicated the concerned SMC unit and requested higher ups for release of funds for project,” said Javaid Ahmad, a local resident. 

   

As per locals, the required funds were not released. “In absence of drainage system in locality, few drops of rain or snow are sufficed to cause water logging,” they said.

They appealed SMC commissioner to release the required funds for project in the interest of people at large.
