Batamaloo residents seek construction of community hall

Residents of Shah Faisalabad Batamaloo have demanded construction of community hall in the locality.

A delegation from the area led by locality presidentHabibullah Bhat said that more than a decade ago, government had allotted landfor the community hall. He said subsequently in 2008, the then finance ministerhad laid foundation stone for the facility.

“Ironically work on the project is yet to start. Overthe years, the project has been passed from one department to another. Earlierthe project was to be executed by Srinagar Development Authority (SDA), butlater the construction work was handed over to Srinagar Municipal Corporation,”Bhat said.

He said some years later, SMC transferred the land back toSDA for development of community hall “but the construction work was nevertaken up even as funds have been released for the project.”

“We are living in congested area and are in dire needof a community hall which could be used for marriage functions and other socialevents,” he said.

They said that from over last few months, locals from thearea met SDA authorities who as per them assured of revisiting the case.”But nothing was done,” they said. The aggrieved residents requestedGovernor to look into the issue and direct the concerned authorities tocomplete the project at the earliest.
